Trevor Noah launches ‘The Daily Social Distancing Show’ from his couch

Over the past couple of days, we’ve got a couple of brief glimpses into The Daily Show host Trevor Noah’s apartment via a hectic cleaning montage and some failed balcony singing.

But on Wednesday night, we got the real deal. In the clip above, Noah sits on his coach and introduces The Daily Social Distancing Show, which comes complete with a full monologue and plenty of digs at Donald Trump.

“You know Trump is the only person who could hold a press conference about a pandemic and then turn it into a fight about racism,” Noah says, after playing a clip of Trump arguing with reporters over his repeated use of “Chinese virus” when referring to COVID-19.

“This is one of those moments where I wish Obama could come back,” Noah says. “Not as president — I’m not trying to mess with the constitution. I’m just saying they should hire Obama to handle press briefings.

“Because whether you agree with his policies or not, you have to admit, Barack Obama did his thing. He knew how to calm everybody down.”

Noah goes on to chat about the shutdown of the Canadian border, before calling up his colleague Roy Wood Jr. for a slightly chaotic video chat.
